Death
Mary's execution took place on 8th February, 1587. A large crowd gathered to watch the execution. Mary wore a black velvet dress and veil, and died with queenly air. It was said that she spent hours preparing for her death; writing letters to her lady's in waiting and friends. She also died religiously; praying before the axe was lifted and her last words being;
"My End is My Beginning."
Mary's execution was a curious affair, as she forbid the executioner from disrobing her, and chose to do it herself. She also had brought her own dog to the execution; a Skye Terrier. But apart from the oddities she put her head on the scaffold without a moment of hesitation and willingly committed her soul to god.
Present View on Mary
Now Mary is thought of as a hero and savior, but also, in the legend of Bloody Mary she is thought of as cruel and wicked. At the end of the day, it is really who you think she is; a hero or an Evil Queen.
